Description - Herbs with creeping rhizome. Leaves in a rossette, channeled above, linear-ensiform, with transverse dark bands. Inflorescence axis long; flowers white or pale green, in spike-like racemes

Uses - Rhizome mucilaginous, used in the form of an electuary for cough. Juice offender shoots given to children for cleaning the phlegm from the throat. The juice is used in earache and to clear the throat of ths viscid phlegm.It is also used in cases of long standing coughs and in consumption.
