    Botanical name - Dichrostachys cinerea

    Description - Thorny shrubs or small trees with light coloured, furrowed bark; branchlets ending in spines. Leaflets minute, sessile. Flowers yellowish, in spikes. Pod twisted

    Chemical Constituents- Bark contains friedelin, alpha-amyrin, sitosterol. Heart-wood contains octacosanol, sitosterol. Leaves contain hentriacontanol.

    Use - Roots used in rheumatism. Tender shoots bruised and used in opthalmia
