    Description - Herb or sub-shrubby, up to 91 cm in height; branchlets with green and purple streaks glabrous or thinly clothed with white vesicles; leaves simple, alternate, long petioled, ovate or lanceolate 2.5-6.0 x 1.0-2.0 cm: flowers clustered at the nodes, whitish, 2 mm across; seeds horizontal, obscurely keeled, 1-2 mm across

    Chemical Constituents- Plant contains ethereal oil, carotene, vitamin C. Roots contain ecdysteroids - Beta-ecdysone and polypodine B. Fruits contain fixed oil

    Use - Plant accredited with laxative and anthelmintic properties
